Community Consultation
Consensus Planning take the following steps in the build up to an application being submitted:
- We decide on the number of people that need to be consulted.
- We write to those that need to be informed about the proposal e.g. residents, councillors, interest groups, MP’s and local businesses.
- Research local issues before undertaking consultation and conduct a political audit.
- For the majority of our projects we propose to hold a community event and thereafter offer one to one meetings with key groups.
- We plan the event by:
- Researching the history of the site and looking at its constraints.
- Holding various meetings with our client to discuss the proposal.
- Producing a PowerPoint presentation for the event.
- At the event we seek to:
- Identify the concerns of those that have attended.
- Provide answers to easily resolved questions.
- Organise workshops to discuss the key topics raised.
- Reduce the number of concerns that have arisen.
- Increase the confidence amongst the community that our client is open to compromise and that we will do our best to appease both the community and our client.
- Following the event we will produce a newsletter or a review letter that will be sent to all those that attended the event plus those that we feel require a copy but were unable to attend. With this we aim to provide a summary of our findings and to identify proposed solutions.
- We then provide recommendations for our client to consider.
- We ensure that we maintain a dialogue with the local community and a transparent planning process leading up to Committee.
